Sometimes it is better to put an arrogant dog out of his misery.
That is what Ember, animal veterinary assistant in Parys, thought when she glanced over at the boy next door and his latest conquest on the front steps of his house.
Ember can’t stand the lewd animal Aiden turned into. Not while he was once her brother’s best friend, or more importantly, the only one that really saw her.
They had a bond that was forged in misery until it finally broke on the night Aiden rejected her and the fragile heart she offered.
But that was then and now all that is left from the life before her father and her brother and his best friend abandoned her, is her alcoholic mother with her hidden nefarious activities.
That is until she gets kicked out of her home and takes refuge at the clinic where she works.
While Aidan has all the girls in this small town panting after him, Ember is the only one who knows the truth about their families.
Or so she thought.
With every buried secret that comes to light, it becomes clear that escape is the only way to be freed from the backwards thinking of this small town.
But how can she escape when Aiden brings Pluto, the hurt puppy, to the clinic for care and Ember ends up being the one who needs care the most?
And how does she detangle herself from the chains of deceit her mother has weaved before she is consumed by revenge?
